About us

Launceston R/C Racers is a group of model motorsport fanatics. We bash and race R/C cars anywhere, anytime.

We’re racing every second Friday at our indoor venue at Quercus Park, Carrick (Better known as the Agfest site). Just 15 minutes from the center of Launceston. The Quercus Park venue is for electric buggies, trucks, minis and touring cars. The address is “Quercus Park” 415 Oaks Road, however we use the 3rd access road to the southern end of the site if you are coming in from the highway.

Entrance to the site is via the southern service road as shown on the map below, with parking on the northern side of the shed.

entry

Our indoor raceway is open for organised racing every second Friday night. Doors open at 6pm, with racing from 7.00pm. Track surface is carpet, with artificial jumps, bumps and ramps for off-road racing. Race entry is $15 for one class, $20 for two, with those prices applying to members, and bona fide visitors or newcomers. After three visits, non-member rates of $20/$25 apply.

Membership of Launceston R/C is $80 for families, $50 for adults and $30 for a junior.

Commencing May 2011, lap counting at Launceston R/C will use the MyLaps RC transponder counting system. This means you’ll need a MyLaps RC4 transponder (or other compatible personal transponder) in order to have lap scoring. The club have some transponders on a rental basis (first-in, first-served). We can arrange purchase of RC4 transponders, or you can source from hobby stores.

Many of us race regularly at the North West R/C Car Club’s awesome Latrobe Offroad Raceway for EP & GP buggies, truggies and monster trucks, and at the Southern Tasmanian Model Car Club (Hobart) for EP touring cars. We recommend them as great places to race if you can’t get to Launceston R/C.

If you’re interested in starting racing with us and want to find out more about what kinds of cars we race check out our “Getting Started” series for lots of useful information.
