2023 Campbelltown Hobbies RCRA Tasmanian EP Off-Road Championship

Launceston R/C is proud to present their sanctioned state title, the 2023 Campbelltown Hobbies RCRA Tasmanian EP Off-Road Championship to be held on the 8th to 10th of September 2023 embracing our ability to race regardless of the temperature and weather outside!

This two day race meeting will bring together the best drivers from around Tasmania and Australia for two days of intense indoor, electric R/C car racing with a range of classes providing an option for just about every EP R/C Off Road racer.

Our regular Launceston R/C club races are normally open to Club members and non members alike, however as a sanctioned RCRA event we can only accept entries from people who are members of RCRA affiliated clubs. However Launceston R/C always welcomes new members, and most certainly welcomes spectators!

If you haven’t used RC Race Pal, sign up for a free account, add your cars with transponder number to your garage and then you can enter those cars by following the link to the event. Format: 4 * 5 minute qualifiers, with two best race result to count. Triple 5 minute A finals. Minimum two B/C/Lower finals

Classes Saturday: 2wd Buggy Stock, 2wd Buggy Modified, Short Course Truck, Novice. Full details including rules for each class below.

Control Tyres: As a RCRA sanctioned State titles, there will be a control tyre for all driven wheels (rear tyres on most vehicles, and fronts on 4wd only). Non driven tyres on 2wd are open still.

As per RCRA regulations there will be tyre limits. Tyre sets will be marked during the technical inspections to ensure the number of sets used. These limits are as follows:

  • 3 sets of control tyres for 2wd Junior Stock, 2wd Stock, 4wd Stock and Short Course Truck
  • 4 sets of control tyres for 2wd Modified, 4wd Modified and Stadium Truck

Minimum of 8 drivers per class is a MUST in order for the class to be run (less at the organisers discretion)

Cost: $30 for 1 class, $50 for 2 classes, $60 for three classes and $70 for four classes. Maximum of two classes per entrant, per day. Payments must be made via direct deposit using your name as a reference. Junior Entries are only $10. Payments must be received at least 1 week before the event.

Concours: Prize for best-presented car in each chassis class. The trophy will be presented after the drivers briefing.

Transponders: This race meeting will be scored using personal transponders. It is your responsibility to supply your own personal transponder (AMB personal transponder and MyLaps RC4 are suitable). We have a very limited number of transponders available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis at $10 for the day (conditions apply).

Rules and Regulations: Rules for each class are outlined below. Race format and general event guidelines are as per RCRA regulations. We hope this is a weekend that will be heavy on fun, and light on scrutineering and heavy-handed rule enforcement. Your cooperation will help make sure this is the case.

There will be no unsportsmanlike behaviour or intentional abuse of equipment will be tolerated. No participant is to make offensive, disparaging or insulting remarks about any other participant, official, volunteer or spectator. Any behaviour or conduct which is considered to bring the sport into disrepute will not be tolerated.

All batteries must be 2S Li-Poly Hard Case and be on the approved battery list by BRCA or ROAR as per RCRA regulations. All batteries must be charged in a Lipo sack.

LiHV batteries are allowed as per the above regulations, however we remind competitors of regulation 12.2.2 Full charge voltage not to exceed 4.2 Volts per cell. This includes LiHV batteries and voltages will be monitored during the event.

Track: For those who haven’t visited Launceston R/C before, the track surface has been evolving over the years to where the majority of the surface is carpet or artificial turf with man made jumps, humps and other artificial obstacles. As per RCRA regulations the track will have a fresh layout for the State Title.

Site Location & Travel Guide: Launceston R/C Operates from Quercus park located just before 435 Oaks Road, Carrick. This site is 15 minutes from Launceston, or from Launceston Airport respectively. There is a significant variety of accommodation available in the Launceston and Hadspen areas in a variety of types and price ranges. There is also a number of Car Rental agencies available at Launceston Airport.

Site Layout: Inside the Uniquely Tasmania Pavilion will be the same as normal with race control, the canteen and drivers stand in the normal locations. It is anticipated that we will have a number of other groups and clubs displaying on the Sunday. This will be a Drop Off Only Zone for both days of the state title, with parking to the west of the pavilion as per the map below. There will be NO PARKING on the southern side of the pavilion.

Food & Drink: Launceston R/C will be operating a BBQ for those who wish to purchase food during the event. It will be operating Saturday and Sunday along with the usual drinks, chocolates and chips from the canteen.

Bombshell coffee will have their van on site each day selling a range of hot drinks and snacks, they are one of our major sponsors so please support them when you see them both at this event and others.

Under no circumstance are alcoholic drinks to be brought on-site.

Practice:

  • A practice session will open on Friday the 16th of August at 10:00 am. The track will close at 9:00pm precisely.
  • Launceston R/C races every 2nd Friday night, and visitors are always welcome. Doors open by 6pm, with racing starting at 7.
  • Controlled practice 8:00 – 8:45 AM Saturday and Sunday 17th and 18th of August.
  • The track is closed at all other times, unless announced here at launcestonrc.com

On Site Facilities: There are toilets on site, however Launceston R/C will have a portaloo closer to the Uniquely Tasmanian Pavilion for this event. On site water is not potable so you should not drink it. Drinking Water will be available for purchase at the Canteen. There will be plenty of parking available, so please park sensibly, please keep your speed down as there will be a range of people of various ages attending the event. As mentioned above, there will be food on site for the event.

9. Outsiders RC 2wd Buggy Junior

  • This is a class for drivers 16 years of age and younger
  • It is intended to provide an enjoyable class for younger children to race
  • or 2wd 1/10th buggies only
