Yes, that is not a typo, Launceston R/C is pleased to announce that Launceston Toyota is the 2015 naming sponsor for the Cup! We hope that this year’s partnership is the first of many years of collaboration and welcome them to the team.

So expect there to be banners up on the day, and as always please support the sponsors that support the club.

In other news the committee has voted on a change of the rules that we have adhered to for many years.  Short Course Truck has always been one of our most popular classes, although for the first time buggy entries have surpassed Short Course Truck ones for the cup.  The change to the rules is the removal of the long held tyre list.  The surface that we have run on for some time lends itself to carpet tyres like the Schumacher Mini Pin and Proline Pinpoint tyres which have good life, and best effect.  This somewhat negates the advantage of very soft tyres whose use we were limiting so the tyre restrictions from today have been officially lifted to being open tyres.  We doubt this will make much of a change to what tyres people are using, but allows the option where people want to try other things.

Entries for the cup are still coming, and we are on course to have a record year, but we do need everybody to get their entries in as soon as possible so that we can finalise timings and rounds, as we want to finish at a decent time, and we have a very strict finishing time on Sunday that we need to adhere to because of the flights being taken out of Launceston by many of our interstate drivers.

Sadly we have not received enough entries to run the over 13 novice class, so it has been cancelled and the entries notified.

Another housekeeping task, we need, well quite a few tables as our interstate visitors will not be able to bring any with them, so if you know of anybody that has 15-18 largeish tables that they could lend us, or sponsor us for the weekend, please let somebody on the committee know.
