This morning’s news is that we have hit 70 entries already. While this is still a few short of our 100 entries of the past three years, it is important because it means that we will be starting to close classes as they reach capacity now. So if you want to make sure you get a spot in your favorite class, get your entries in NOW!
We also wanted to gauge interest to perhaps hosing a casual dinner somewhere on Friday or Saturday night to not on get to know the visiting interstate and intrastate drivers, but make them feel welcome with some Launceston R/C hospitality.
The other thing on the cards is perhaps a Q&A Session with drivers like Ray Munday after racing or practice on the Friday or Saturday night. Leave a comment on the facebook page or group with your thoughts.
Novice (14 and older) is a little thin on, so if you have any mates who are interested in racing, but not sure about it, get them to come and enter in the novice class, it is a great way to have a taste of just how much fun a big race meet can be.
Junior is up to three entries, and again, if you think your kids may be interested in having a go, bring them out. Our latest entry will be only 7 years old when he drives in his first Launceston Cup, and on Friday night he was making 5-6 laps in a race, a great start for hist first race meet (yes, I am proud that my son is racing and enjoying it 🙂 ). All Junior racers WILL at least get a certificate for their participation, and of course the three podium places all get a trophy as well. We also welcome Rebecca Green & Associates on board as the sponsor for the Junior Class.
We may have news of another sponsor in the works as well, but nothing has been finalised, so fingers crossed.
The entry list on the 2015 Launceston R/C Cup page has been updated so you can see who you will be competing against, and where in the country they are coming from. There are some names from around the country that you will recognise as well from Chris Sturdy from Queensland to a big contingent from Victoria including Ray Munday, John Watkins and Cameron Zammit. I think it is going to be a bumper year, and I can’t wait to get started (and maybe looking forward to a burger from Burger Junkie as well).
