Sunday the 16th of Feb is the Annual Tasmanian Truck Show (It used to be called the Deloraine Truck Show before it moved to Quercus). The 2013 show attracted around 90 trucks and a fairly large number of spectators. This year the show is on while we are in residence at Quercus park, and we had a choice to display or move everything out for the show much like we have to do for Agfest. The committee thought that a display would be less work, and an excellent opportunity to showcase our sport to a new audience.
As greenie mentioned, we will be shrinking our track down to take up the rear half of the shed (access road side) and probably up to the rear entrance door. We want to have a good number of members there throughout the day running vehicles on the track, answering questions, passing out flyers and keeping an eye on the display on the whole. We are asking members to come out for the day if you can and bring any RC vehicles that you have to add to the static display of vehicles that we will be having. Got a Drifter, crawler, touring car or monster truck, bring it out with you as well. If there is a period of time you can be there, let us know so that we can stagger when members are there if need be to help cover any gaps when numbers may be low.
Admission to the show is $10 per adult, 14 and under free, as well as drivers of “Show Vehicles” being free. Not sure if we count as a show vehicle or not, however the event is a fundraiser for the Lions Club of Deloraine, so it is for a good cause. However hopefully as exhibitors we can get let in at no fee.
The show opens at 8:00 am, so be out at the track bright and early, the show wraps up after trophy presentations at 2:30 pm.
