R/C this weekend & Tassie Update

A few bits and pieces of news for the R/C addicts among us for this coming weekend….and beyond.

NWRCCC will be running a club day at Latrobe for 8th GP and EP offroad, plus class for 10th buggy and/or Short Course Truck. In the grounds of Bendigo Bank Arena (Latrobe Speedway) with entries due by about 9am. It’s a great track and worth the trip.

STMCC are running EP Touring Cars (and last I heard a class for SC Trucks) at Goodwood in Hobart. Also an excellent track.

Scotsdale Show race meet is now just two weeks away. Get all the info here and get an entry in.  If racing doesn’t go so well, there’s always sideshow alley!

Congrats to the Tassie guys who did a fantastic job at the 8th GP Victorian Championships last weekend. Tim Parsons made the buggy final and Matt Hodgetts the Truggy final, with Mark Rayner, Justin Strickland, Chris Strickland and Wally Sturzaker all in the semis.  Unfortunately finals didn’t go according to plan with Tim, Matt, Mark and Justin all suffering mechanical/electrical issues that stopped them finishing higher up. Nontheless, awesome job guys!

El Presidente Paddy Hume and Sam Wells are off to Melbourne this weekend to race at Keilor in the first Short Course Stampede.  There are 90 entries in total, including 50 in the 2wd Short Course class that Sam and Paddy will run.  We’ll try and bring some updates here over the weekend as we hear from the guys.  Good luck boys!

There are another bunch of Tasmanians heading to the 2011 8th GP Truggy and EP Buggy nationals in Melbourne in just one month’s time. If you want to join them, entries close this weekend at slyfoxrmt.com.  Scott Guyatt, Alex John, Matt & Alanna Hodgetts, Jason Heard, Mick & Aaron Peck and Wayne Hyland are all on the entry list to take on some of Australia’s best.

Paddy took a second and third in his two b final races to finish 3rd in the B. Sam took second, sixth and first in the triple A final races to finish 2nd overall….against some of Australia’s best in a 50 truck field. Unreal!
