Big week this week for lots of GP Truggy racers with the FEMCA (Far East Model Car Association) Truggy Champs taking place up on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Three Tasmanians are among the entry list, including two regulars at Launceston R/C.
Best of racing luck to Matt Hodgetts, Mick Peck and Jason Heard. Race details, results and live timing (once racing starts on Thursday) are at www.slyfoxrmt.com
Peter Hutton is also racing interstate this week, competing in a big 4wd Short Course Truck race in the Northern Territory. You can follow Peter’s progress live at OCR Raceway on Friday and Saturday night.
If you’re interested in travelling to a big event, there are a couple more this year to which Tassie drivers are heading.
The Victorian GP Offroad Champs (for 8th Buggy and Truggy – both nitro) are on October 21-24 at Bendigo. There are a heap of drivers from the North West R/C Car Club heading over for the event. Regular Launceston R/C drivers Justin Strickland, Mark Rayner, Matt Hodgetts are among those making the trip.
And the Truggy and 8th EP Buggy Nationals are on in Melbourne, Dec 1-4. Matt and Alannah Hodgetts and Scott Guyatt have entered for this one, and others are contemplating the trip as well.
There’s nothing quite like travelling to a big race meeting. It’s a fantastic learning experience, the tracks are perfectly prepared, and there are heaps of fellow R/C racers to meet.
If you’re interested in either of those races, once again head to www.slyfoxrmt.com
We’ll hopefully get a group together to travel over for some 1/10th buggy and Short Course truck racing in 2012. We’ll let you know more.
