Launceston Duck Race

Just a quick update to this post, and sticking it to the top of the website for the next 24 hours.

The Launceston Duck Race is tomorrow, and we’re joining with the guys from NWRCCC to put on an R/C demo.  Check the thread and comments for details of where and when to meet. There is no cost.  Hope to see you there tomorrow to fly the flag.

Now for the original announcement………

The Rotary Club of Central Launceston has invited us (Launceston R/C in conjunction with NWRCCC) to run a display day for EP and IC cars at this up coming event, the DUCK RACE. It is to be held on Saturday the 9th of April, along the Esplanade (in front of Boags) in Launceston. Ever seen over 5 thousand colourful little plastic ducks dropped from a helicopter? Yeah, it’s pretty cool!!!!

The event had sideshow rides and entertainment, food and drink vans, with the main event kicking off at 12 noon, the Duck Race/s. Everything for a family day out!! Buy a ticket on the day, as there is a car in it for first place!!! We’ve been given around 40 metres of road to set up a track to run on. We won’t be running a timing system, but timed demo races by class. I’ll be there with a couple of the lads at 8am setting up the track. As the crowds start to gather by 10am, we’ll try to be gathered and ready to go by 9am (it will be very hard to drive in after 9). Closer to the date, I’ll confirm which end of the Esplanade we will be at so you’ll know where you can park. So, whether you have the BIGGEST Monster Truck, or the smallest Tourer, it don’t matter, bring ’em all down for a race, if it’s got a remote, we’ll find a race for you to go in!!!!! So, show some support for our clubs, and help drum up as much intrest as possible. Click through and register your intent in the comments section.

  3. Greenie says:

Yep Ian, nitro and EP. but we can’t race the nitros DURING the duce race itself. too loud.

ummmm trailer……….. not too sure whats happening with that……

  4. James says:

I’ll be there just with the Slash: Got plenty of batteries to keep me going through the day compered to the Vorza!

  5. Greenie says:

  6. Paddy says:

    • ian says:

May be a race with ducks on the cars

      • Greenie says:

if i can find some pic’s from the last couple of years, 10th scale cars fit the decoy ducks quite nicely!!!!

      • ian says:

can we get some after the duck race or would it be to late.Or are the some hanging around from last year

      • Greenie says:

nah, the decoy ducks go back to the business that bought them , and the little ones get reused year to year, or given aways at the end of the day to people who bought tickets.

    • James says:

Ive got a new body coming & hope it will arrive before the duck race Event!
Its going to be similar colours & design to match the Vorza & it will have my nickname (Acko) instead of numbers this time!

  7. Greenie says:

only a couple of week to go…….

  8. Greenie says:

this will be great fun guys, hope you all can come down for a race and support the club/s.

  9. James says:

Got my new body today, Just needs a couple more coats and need some decals to get down from the mainland via tiger hobbies if i need to get it done in time or i could use the Desert Rat instead!

  10. Greenie says:

Well, this is how it stands. We’re running on the Tamar street side on the Esplanade. (It’s only a ruff marking on the map where the track will be, but we’ll be at the end so you can’t miss it!!!!!)

If we can try and be there and parked by 9am, would be good.

Enter off the Tamar street end, there will be people there to stop the traffic, just tell them you with the model club and they’ll let you in. I don’t think there will the 240 there, but i’ll try and arrange it, but i’m not holding my breath!!!
Any shade shelters, tables and chairs you need, bring them along, we’ll set aside a pit area.

    Anything I’ve forgotten????

I have been talking with STMCC about bringing the mobile driver’s stand up to Launnie. At this stage I’m hoping to have it here next week (in time for the duck race). I’ll just need to figure out who to pass it on to before Saturday.

  11. Greenie says:

Paddy’s going to build a Rock Crawling course as well, so bring your 10th scale crawler along for so extreme crawler action!!!!

  12. Paddy says:

Should be a great day! Excited about the crawling course! Hopefully those rocks are still where I saw them “lying” around! 😉 Haha

  13. James says:

I got Paddy’s Text message today so ive got the Summit ready for a run this weekend plus the Vorza will be out too but the Slash is out due to a silly mistake i did last weekend! L8r

  14. Greenie says:
