Hey all.
Newcomers to Launceston R/C might not be aware that our president has a dirt off-road track in his back paddock, and with summer evenings here, it’s time to get up and running for some dirt action.
The Hillwood RC track is in need of some maintenance! So I’m proposing a small working bee on Saturday 8th to get it in order for some racing. If we get enough people helping and get the track in order we may even have a meet the next day (Sunday 09/01) or if not it will be the last Sunday of Jan as was the pattern last summer.
Things to do…
– main issue is getting the track smoothed out a roller would be ideal
– weeding
– Jumps to be redone, triple up the hill is going
– The track has been extended since you all last came, so maybe a jump or 2 in that section
– I will buy some piping for the new part, it will need to be pegged down.
– New drivers stand coming, but not straight away…
– fencing at the top area to keep horses off track!
– general clean up around the track.
Also if you have any tools you can bring (shovels, wheel barrows, rakes, etc.) that would be great!
So if you can make it that would be excellent, let me know by posting on here, or you can call me on 0438059735
Cheers
Paddy
I’d just like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came to lend a hand today!
The track is in prime condition now, and ready for racing.
As tomorrow is such short notice for everyone I’ve decided not to hold a full blown meeting.
But i will hold a bash day for anyone that is keen.
Thanks to Chris, we have a new drivers stand arranged to be built, but tomorrow there will obviously be no drivers stand.
The only problem there is that some of the new section of the track is tricky to see properly.
So tomorrow is open for practice/bash only, with no lap timing or certificates.
Cheers and thank you again to everyone!! 😀

Hi all Short Course racers. Today there was a discussion, and a decision to allow a select few race inspired tyres for SC racing at Hillwood RC Raceway ONLY, and not for Rutherglen. This will allow more traction with what we believe to be closer racing, and less crashing due to poor traction. This tyre list are ones I’ve picked out and believe will work well, (note any compounds are allowed) And the list is subject to change.
Pro-line Calibers
Pro-line Bow-Ties
Pro-line Holeshots
AKA Cityblocks
Jconcepts Bar Codes
Note the first meeting these will be in effect will be Feb 27th
please note this tyre list is ONLY SC specific tyres, not 1/8th buggy tyres.
as to keep the stock looking nature of these beasts! 🙂
