Goodbye 2010…last race of the year!

This Thursday night (December 16th) is our last race meeting for the year. It marks the end point of a fantastic first year (and we’ll reflect on 2010 here on the website over the next few days).

So come on down, pack your r/c gear and get in one last race meeting before we take a month off…returning January 27th for our 2011 racing year.

This week? Short Course, tenth offroad, tourers and eighth scale “Big Bangers” as usual.  Plenty of laughs, plenty of good times. Plenty of mates.

Doors open by 6, racing from 7.

Thanks Pete. I’ll post a summary story hopefully tonight with results for all the Launnie R/C crew from the State Champs on the weekend. Just been run over with work since getting home Sunday night!

  2. James says:

I might be out for a run but i need to see if my dad wants to come out for a look too, he seemed to like the nitro cars last weekend!

  3. scottg says:

Good news folks! We’re hoping to (finally) have our trophies to present from this year’s Winter Championship series. It’s taken a while but we’re advised that they should be ready tomorrow….just in time!

    cheers
    scott

    • James says:

Yay my first trophy from this club and its been a long time between drinks since my last one that i got from Symmons Plans being a Flag Marshall from the State Series Racing from a few years back!

      • scottg says:

Trophies will be presented to the top three in each class – Short Course, Novice, Tenth Buggy, Eighth Buggy and Tourers, plus a special award for “Best Young Driver”.

We’re hoping to have certificants to present to the remainder of the top ten in each class, but our chief certificate man is well and truly sick in bed after a big weekend at Latrobe….so not sure we’ll get them done in time.

      • Greenie says:

If all goes to plan, they should be ready.

  4. joshua fogarty says:

will be there with the sc10 and kyosho as per usual….

  5. Paddy says:

  6. Ben says:

Looking foward to tonight, will be there with hyper and bamdit for its second run.

Can anyone tell me where the “simple green” used for tyre conditioning can be bought, preferably in launceston?

    Ben

  7. Ben says:

    sweet, thanks mate

  8. Dave says:

    Hi all.

Sorry, I will be missing this meet as well.
You can all still have a hoot tonight though and see out the year with a PB 😉

Have fun and a Merry Christmas to all.

  10. Peter Hutton says:

i’ll 2nd that Josh…well done Greenie…was a gr8 night couple of hiccups but we all had a wonderful night. PS dont think i’ll run a tourer with buggies again…lol. Lucky for a few weeks break to get all the repairs done on it and get the new 1/10th scale here, assembled and sorted b4 we race again.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to all. been a pleasure to compete and socialise every fortnight with a fantastic group of people. If only a lot of other clubs and associations could create such atmosphere as we have at Rutherglen.
    See you all next year

    Pete, Ang and Amanda

I had a good night out with the Slash and i helped out Greenie with the timing!
I got there a bit early so i did some testing with the tyres that ive got and the BFG’s handled better than the Switchs so i ran with the BFG’s for the night!
Qualifying went ok and the Slash had a heap of grunt from the Novak Brushless Motor, i had 13 laps for Q1 and 12laps for Q2 then i was on pole for B-Class finals in Final 1 i had a few roll overs so i tried to get least back onto the podium but i got 4th, For F.2 i had a good start then i had an early roll over or spin out somewhere then i heard that i was in second place so i thought try to find some space on my own to stay in 2nd place then the race had finished i got back to the computer it said that i came 2nd, i thought to myself where i would come at end of the night then i’d stay for the presentation and i still got 2nd for B-Class for SCT! 12. ian says:

Great night thursday thanks to Greenie for running the meet and james on the computer. Now we got to wait 5 more weeks for next meeting unless we have a practice session. All have a good and safe xmas a see all next time .

  13. Paddy says:

Just out of curiosity, i know all the on-road drivers also run off-road vehicles. I was wondering, and this is a LONG way off and not even sure we would be allowed, who out of the on-road guys would be happy to drop the on-road sides of things altogether in favor for an entire dirt based off-road track? Just my mind running wild with no racing to do! Everyone let me know your ideas, what you would prefer. As is, on and off-road concrete based, or a sweet dirt/clay track just for off-road… 🙂

Just remember this is entirely theoretical at this stage…. 😉

  14. Peter Hutton says:

    Paddy,
not against it but after investing a heap of cash this year into a new tourer and
running gear for it its just not economical to just drop the tourer and retire it to the shelf.
And yes i will be running a off road (mainly at Latrobe)as well next year as well but the tourer is still my main entry for Rutherglen.

Just an opinion from my position where cash is not that disposable

    Pete

  15. James says:

Im planning to get an 8th Scale R/c Car soon but im not sure what i’ll be getting an nitro or electric but either way im not phased at the moment im happy to run the Slash SCT where-ever!! L8r James

  16. Andrew says:
