With tonight’s race meeting marking the first ever ‘championship series’ for Launceston R/C, we’ve been working on the points system.
For this first series (Winter 2010) we’ll trial the following system.
The series will consist of six race meetings – starting tonight and finishing Thursday 23rd September. Final results and presentation will be made at the first race meeting in October.
Of the six race meetings, your best five points scores will count. Points will be tallied on a per-class basis, with awards for the top 3 in each class, and the highest pointscoring junior (16 and under) driver overall.
While we’ll start off tallying points for everyone who races, the points series is ultimately for members of the club – so once we hit the end of July we’ll remove non members from the points score. Non members will still be absolutely welcomed to come and race with us – and compete for the win on the night, they just won’t be scoring points towards the series outcome.
The points system we’ll use is a variation on that used in Moto GP:
- 1st – 25 points
- 2nd – 22 points
- 3rd – 20 points
- 4th – 18 points
- 5th – 17 points
- 6th – 16 points
- and so on down to 20th – 2 points
- any class drawing more than 20 entrants all remaining drivers will receive 1 point
We’ll post points updates after each race meeting, so stay tuned to the website for all the news you need.
Clear as mud!
